Texas Compassionate Use Program

Medical Cannabis Evaluations in The Woodlands & Conroe

Dr. Patricia Allamon offers physician-guided evaluations for the Texas Compassionate Use Program, also known as CUP or CURT. This program allows eligible Texas patients to receive a medical cannabis prescription through the state registry when clinically appropriate.

Texas does not issue medical marijuana cards. Instead, qualified physicians enter prescriptions directly into the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas, which licensed dispensaries can access to verify and dispense medication. Dr. Allamon does offer signed documentation of your prescription.

Who May Qualify

The Texas Compassionate Use Program is available to permanent Texas residents with qualifying conditions, including but not limited to:

  • PTSD

  • Cancer

  • Epilepsy or seizure disorders

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Spasticity

  • Autism

  • ALS

  • Parkinson’s disease and other incurable neurodegenerative conditions

  • Crohn’s disease or inflammatory bowel disease

  • Traumatic brain injury

  • Chronic pain

  • Terminal illness or patients receiving hospice or palliative care

Eligibility is determined during your physician evaluation.

What Is Included in Your Visit

Virtual CUP Evaluation — $150

Your visit includes:

  • Physician evaluation with Dr. Allamon

  • Review of your qualifying condition and symptoms

  • Discussion of dosing, safety, expectations, and product types

  • Entry into CURT when clinically appropriate

  • Documentation with Dr. Allamon’s signature

  • One-year certification

  • Paperwork needed for employment, probation officer, or similar documentation requests

Follow-Up and Prescription Changes

Your initial visit includes a detailed discussion of dosing and appropriate use. If you exceed or go beyond your prescribed dosing instructions, a follow-up visit is required before any prescription adjustment.

Follow-up virtual visit — $150

This allows Dr. Allamon to review your response, side effects, dosing pattern, and clinical appropriateness before making changes.

Court Appearances

Documentation is included when appropriate. However, court appearances are not included in the initial CUP evaluation.

Court appearance fee — $150, billed as the cost of a virtual visit.

How the Process Works

  1. Schedule a virtual evaluation

  2. Meet with Dr. Allamon to review your condition and treatment goals

  3. If appropriate, your prescription is entered into CURT

  4. You may contact a licensed Texas dispensary

  5. The dispensary verifies your information in CURT and dispenses according to the prescription

Patients do not register themselves with the state or pay a state registration fee. The physician enters the patient information into CURT.

Important Notes

Texas law limits medical cannabis access to patients who meet program requirements. Prescriptions are individualized and must be used as directed. Medical cannabis obtained outside the Texas Compassionate Use Program may not be protected under Texas law.
